Over the past few years I've become more conscious about what cosmetics are made of and as a result I have completely revamped my daily routine with products that are organic and natural. The latest brand I've added to my makeup kit is Kjaer Weis. It sounds like this: Kē-yar Wīs. It’s the Danish last name of company founder Kirsten Kjær Weis, who is an incredibly talented and highly sought after professional makeup artist. Countless hours spent making up models for magazine covers and fashion shoots led her to develop a high-perfomance line of cosmetics crafted in Italy from the highest quality organic and natural ingredients. The company website has extensive information about what's in the line and what qualifies as organic vs natural. "Raw substances and natural preservatives have been extracted from minerals, plants and wildflowers specifically chosen for their color, scent and affinity with the skin."
The colors are stunning and the beauty aspect runs through every element of the brand, as exhibited by the beautiful packaging. Cream blush, lip tints, foundation, highlighter and eye shadows are placed in sturdy chrome compacts that double as mirrors for easy application. Those are placed in textured red boxes inspired by jewelry boxes. What's inside definitely warrants such an impressive presentation.
My first foray into the world of Kjaer Weis included two compacts, which were sent for review by the brand's PR firm: Sensuous Plum Lip Tint and Abundance Cream Blush. Both are perfectly suited to my fair skin. All shades are formulated for build-able coverage, which makes them great for day and night. Sensuous Plum is an understated, chic tone with a hint of color. The Lip Tints are moisturizing and healing, with key ingredients of jojoba seed oil, rosa rubiginosa seed oil, beeswax and gardenia florida fruit extract. It can be applied with the fingertips but I was also given the foldable lip brush (an excellent applicator specifically designed for the product). Likewise, the new blush brush proves to be an effective applicator for my KW Abundance Cream Blush. The color I selected is a plummy taupe with a subtle iridescent glow. I love it for fall/winter and can't wait to try some of the other colors available in the line, like the rosy-pink Embrace. Now that I've sampled the line, I can't wait to try everything! First on my list is the foundation but I'm also eager to check out the mascara and highlighter... and the eye shadows. So basically all of it (in select colors that suit me, of course).
